3D printers print cores and molds up to 1800 x 1000 x 700 mm (70 x 39 x 29 in) in construction size, providing the aerospace industry with more opportunities to design components. Using standard foundry industrial materials, the process can be easily integrated into the existing manufacturing and foundry processes. The combination of larger construction volume and faster construction speed can realize die-free production of prototype castings of metal substrate and small batch production of aluminum copper alloy, gray iron, ductile iron and magnesium. Applications include complex gearboxes and gear housings, oil tanks, gearbox housings, components requiring convection free walls, light engine components, and structural hinges.
